Additional Protocols

 

El Additional Protocol I is directed to the States that de jure o de facto have territories under their international responsibility in the Zone of application of the Treaty of Tlatelolco. Such States legally undertake to respect, within their internationally administered territories, the status of denuclearization for war purposes defined in Articles 1, 3, 5 and 13 of the Treaty of Tlatelolco. Additional Protocol I has been signed and ratified by the United States, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

El Additional Protocol II It is directed at nuclear weapon states. These States legally undertake not to contribute in any way to the practice, in the territories to which the Treaty of Tlatelolco applies in accordance with Article 4, of acts that entail a violation of the obligations set forth in Article 1 of said Treaty. Treaty. The States Parties to Additional Protocol II further undertake not to use nuclear weapons or threaten their use against the Contracting Parties to the Treaty of Tlatelolco. Additional Protocol II has been signed and ratified by China, the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Russia.
