The current Secretary General of OPANAL, Ambassador Flávio Roberto Bonzanini, and Ambassador Enrique Román-Morey, Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations, held a meeting today in New York.
Ambassador Román-Morey, who served as Secretary General of OPANAL from 1994 to 2000, shared the experiences and challenges he faced in leading the Organization.
Ambassador Román-Morey has held important positions in the field of disarmament, including Deputy Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Director of the UN Office for Disarmament in Geneva. He was also Peru's Permanent Representative to the UN in New York previously and in 2014 he chaired the Preparatory Committee for the Review of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
