Personal information and academic history:

H.E. Ambassador Flávio Roberto Bonzanini was born in Guaporé, Rio Grande do Sul, on July 13, 1948. He completed his secondary studies at Artesia High School, in Artesia, New Mexico (USA). He took the diplomacy course offered by the Rio Branco Institute (IRBr) between 1971 and 1972, and later earned his LLB from the Faculty of Legal Sciences of Brazil / RJ (1972) and another degree in Economics from the Federal University of the Federal District / DF (1975). He took the IRBr’s advanced studies course (CAE) in 1990.

Diplomatic career:

He joined the Brazilian Foreign Service in 1973. In Brazil, he worked in the Division of the Latin American Free Trade Association (ALALC). He served as Chief of Staff of the Undersecretary General of Administration and Communications (SGAD); Deputy Head of the Secretariat of Administrative Modernization (SEMOR); Head of the Consular Assistance Division (DAC); Deputy Head of the Office of Legal Affairs and Assistance for Brazilians Abroad; and as Head of the Foreign Ministry's (Itamaraty) Office in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. He was among those on the board of invigilators for the advanced course offered by the IRBr.

Abroad, he served in the Permanent Delegation of Brazil to the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) (XNUMX-XNUMX), and in the Brazilian Embassies in the following countries: Italy (XNUMX-XNUMX), Chile (XNUMX-XNUMX), Colombia (XNUMX-XNUMX) and Belgium (XNUMX-XNUMX)—where he was Minister Counselor and Brazilian Representative to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (XNUMX-XNUMX). Later, he would serve as Brazilian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (XNUMX-XNUMX) and Consul General in Ciudad del Este (XNUMX-XNUMX), Santiago (XNUMX-XNUMX) and Lagos (XNUMX-XNUMX).
