At the meeting, the Secretary-General informed Ms. van Deelen about the successful results of the Internship Programme Earmarked for Caribbean Member States, which is implemented with the support of the Government of the Netherlands. In response, Ms. Marjolijn van Deelen renewed the commitment of the Netherlands with OPANAL to supporting the Internship Programme.

The Internship Programme Earmarked for Caribbean Member States began in 2016.  The 5-month internship at the Secretariat of OPANAL provides young diplomats and/or graduate students with on-the-job training opportunities. Young officers and diplomats from Jamaica, Guyana, Saint Lucia and Haiti have participated in the Programme (read the assessment of the Internship Programme by the participants).
